The ball cannot be too far up in your stance, a common mistake most players make, mimicking the driver setup. For a 3 wood contact should be made with a slightly descending angle of attack, feeling as though you’re sweeping the grass after the ball. Play the ball about a clubhead back of your front foot to do so and watch how the consistency of your contact improves (and ball flight)
